Jon designed and built an Infrared Fourier
Transform Spectrometer (IRFTS) to be used in the future to test the frequency
spectrum "visible" to the next generation of detectors. The frequency
spectrum is important because there is a good deal of unwanted (non-CMB)
signal obtained if the particular bandwidth is not strictly adhered to by
the detector itself. An IRFTS tells us if the detectors are good for what
they are designed for. |
