The University of Pennsylvania Department of Physics and Astronomy supports a wide variety of research projects at the cutting edge of modern scientific research. Many of these developing projects have led to more advanced research in additional areas of interest to the scientific community. Penn's Experimental Cosmology Group focuses on millimeter and submillimeter astronomy.  We study study the cosmic microwave background (CMB) as well as early galaxy formation and star formation in our own galaxy.
